“Re-envisioning the Black Sea in Literature and Historiography” Symposium

In this moment of Russia's war against Ukraine, imperial ambitions are once again in play in the fight to control the Black Sea region. With the premise that imagining comes first in scripting and enacting a productive future, a group of cultural critics, writers, and historians will explore the ways in which the Black Sea has been envisioned and how it is being envisioned differently in the 21st century.
